John Cena goes Pink for breast cancer awareness

Source
John Cena will debut a new shirt tonight - in support of the Susan G Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer foundation.

Cena is well known for his work outside the ring for his charitable work and raising funds for a cancer cure is something close to the Superstar. His youngest brother Sean has an inoperable brain tumor.

The WWE are giving 100% of the profits of sales of the Special Edition Rise above Cancer shirt, hat and sweatbands to the Komen foundation. The products are available from WWE Shop now (if you click on the Sort By drop down box and choose New Arrivals it shows all products not just the packages)

Cancer is a horrible, horrible disease and too many families (including mine) continue to lose loved ones to it. I'll be getting the shirt and I really hope that many of you do too.

Night of Champions Predictions

First and foremost I'd like to take a moment to send love and get well wished to Jerry 'The King' Lawler. Jerry was taken ill at the commentary desk on Monday and it was later announced that he had suffered a heart attack. Thankfully the doctor and emergency staff at the arena were quick to act. Latest news is that Jerry is recovering well and may be allowed home from hospital in the next few days. Take all the time you need King, the WWE Universe will be waiting when you're well enough to return.

On to the predictions for Night of Champions

Youtube Preshow: Superstar Battle Royal Winner will become the #1 Contender for the United States Championship

No participants have been announced for this. My pick is Zack Ryder although it wouldn't be far off betting on Brodus Clay either.

Sheamus (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship

Originally there's only one way I saw this going - Sheamus by submission since the Brogue Kick was outright banned. Then Booker T announcing that if it was used Sheamus would be stripped of the title. I really would like this feud to finish cleanly here, but I have a feeling that Del Rio could get a win because Sheamus used the Brogue. If this happens I definitely see Dolph Ziggler cashing in, leading to a triple threat match (possibly a 4 way with Orton) at Hell in A Cell next month.

CM Punk (c) vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship.

By the time Cena and Punk had their segment Monday night I was already emotional. Then Cena spoke and I was almost in tears. I have no shame in saying that I am emotionally invested in these men and women. I hope to see Cena win by pinfall to get this feud a fresh angle to continue the remainder of the year but don't be surprised by some form of Paul Heyman appearance.

Layla (c) vs. Kaitlyn for the Divas Championship

I wish the Diva's division had some meaning. I urge Vince and Hunter to seriously look at the situation and give the Diva's a kick up the arse and get it moving again. For the reason that I don't think enough people are aware of who Kaitlyn is, Layla will pick up a clean pinfall win.

Randy Orton vs Dolph Ziggler

Randy Orton by pinfall for me, this could be a show stealer. I've earned a lot of respect for Dolph recently and even if he doesn't cash in tonight a period of work with Orton can only strengthen his character.

Antonio Cesaro (c) vs. Pre-show Battle Royal winner for the United States Championship

Cesaro has only had the belt a month. He has to retain, cleanly, by pinfall to make the belt relevant again. Here's an idea - make Cesaro change the belt to the old European Championship. He can brag for a few months how much better the Europeans are and then bring Jack Swagger, The All American American, back to face him. Jack wins and brings back the US title.

R-Truth and Kofi Kingston (c) vs Kane and Daniel Bryan for the WWE Tag Team Championship

Team friendship, Anger management, whatever you want to call them, there is no doubt that the conflicting Kane and Bryan are the most entertaining tag team at the moment. I see Kane & Bryan winning by pinfall, but don't expect them to be happy about it!

The Miz (c) vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Sin Cara Fatal-4-Way for the Intercontinental Championship

Miz  gets the pinfall on Cody to set up a decent feud that brings both men back to their recent best.

So there we have it. Agree? Disagree? Let me know in the comments below!

Summerslam

I've decided not to review Summerslam in the way that I normally do.

The show itself was ok, enjoyable for the most part. The only things I didn't enjoy were the lazy finish to the Heavyweight title match (exactly the same as last years WWE championship match finish!!) and Brock vs Triple H.

I'm so heartbroken that Chris Jericho is off again :( Every time I get tickets he seems to leave just before we due to see a show haha. I'm hoping by November he'll be back, it'd be very cool to see him on our birthday
( yes I share my birthday with my favourite wrestler!!)

I'm hoping Night of Champions is a good show, because I fell like I need some shocks and surprises now.

Summerslam predictions

Hey everybody, here are my predictions for Summerslam.

Pre-show Santino Marella (c) vs. Antonio Cesaro for the WWE United States Championship

Santino by pinfall

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman)

Triple H by pinfall. I just don't see Brock winning, mainly because of his limited appearance contract - If he were to win surely he'd have to be around over the next few weeks

CM Punk (c) vs. Big Show vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship

CM punk pins Big Show. I'd love it to be John, but I think that will happen at Night of Champions

Kane vs. Daniel Bryan

I don't even get this match. Kane by pinfall to send Bryan more insane

Dolph Ziggler vs. Chris Jericho

Y2J Y2J Y2J! Jericho is going to make Ziggy tap to the walls
I absolutely love the work that Chris and Dolph are doing with this feud.
I know Chris is touring with Fozzy but I think he has some Monday's free so think he'll be sticking around a little longer (Hopefully until the UK tour!)

The Miz (c) vs. Rey Mysterio for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

Miz to retain by pinfall. Totally a throw away match.

R-Truth and Kofi Kingston (c) vs. The Primetime Players (Titus O'Neil and Darren Young) for the WWE Tag Team Championship

I think the PTP have to win, by pinfall. My main reasoning is after AW's dismissal because he couldn't do as he was told the PTP have to keep the momentum they've already built. It'll be interesting to see if AW is mentioned at all.

Sheamus (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship

Ugh, get this feud over already! Sheamus to retain by pinfall. I have disliked how this match has been built up, the off then on again situation is a bit daft. I just feel the Del Rio is lacking in charisma, I'd like to see his mic skills improve because that might change my opinion of him.

So there we have it. I've got a few part written blogs that I'm hoping to get up over the next few weeks so stick around for that. I'll also have my review of Summerslam.

Money in the Bank predictions

Hey guys welcome to my predictions for Money in the Bank. Aside from Wrestlemania this happens to be my favourite pay per view.

YOUTUBE PRE-SHOW Kofi Kingston and R-Truth vs. Hunico and Camacho

Kingston and Truth via pinfall

2 points to consider here - WHY is this NOT the Tag team champions vs the number 1 contenders?? (Unless I've missed something??) and why is this the preshow? It's almost a god damn guarantee that there'll be some form of Ryback squash on the main show. I understand that they want to draw people in to watch the youtube show but I feel that this is a wasted spot.
Big Show vs. Kane vs. Chris Jericho vs. John Cena Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a WWE Championship Contract

Although I will be wearing my Raw is Jericho Tshirt my pick for WWE championship MITB is John Cena.

I am so torn for this match. I want Jericho to win and I want Cena to win. I see Cena as the most obvious choice. I don't understand why there are only four participants, although I wouldn't be surprised if we see either The Miz or Rey Mysterio return.

CM Punk (c) vs. Daniel Bryan Singles match for the WWE Championship with AJ as special guest referee

Since this is not a No DQ match I expect this to end in a no contest, since AJ won't allow either man to win
Is it wrong that my continued interest in this feud is more to do with AJ than it is Punk and Bryan? I feel Punk has lost his edge, I don't know whether this is because of working with Bryan but I miss the pipebombs. I see this going to an explosive conclusion at Summerslam, maybe an Ironman match.

Damien Sandow vs. Tyson Kidd vs. Christian vs. Santino Marella vs. Tensai vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Sin Cara Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a World Heavyweight Championship Contract
I LOVE the variety of participants in this match. My pick is Dolph Ziggler

I was initially surprised at the participants here. While I am encouraged by the use of new talents I am hugely annoyed that both the US Champion and the Intercontinental Champion are involved in this match. We are deprived of two matches here. I literally only see Ziggler winning since he has been in a programme with Sheamus. I would love Sandow or Kidd to be in the running but I doubt it.

Sheamus (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio

Sheamus to retain via pinfall

Not much to say here. This match should have taken place at last month ppv. Alberto has been attacking Sheamus at every viable opportunity which makes me think Sheamus has to have the upper hand. My thoughts on Alberto are well documented.

Agree? Disagree? Let me know in the comments section below

Why I write my blog

I've been thinking about this question quite a bit this week.

The answer struck me at about 1 am.

I talk about wrestling to my friends A LOT. This might not seem unusual but in my circle I am the only female who knows more than the names of wrestlers. I don't profess to know it all, hell I hadn't seen anything before 1999 until I met my boyfriend.

It got me to thinking that the purpose of this blog is to share my thoughts and feelings on shows. I write little snippets about what I think about certain angles. I write my predictions and give reviews. I'll splash around pictures when I go to live events (roll on November!) I will never intentionally post spoilers because I don't see it as my "job". I rarely read them and if that is what you're interested in there are PLENTY of places to go and find them.

My biggest point that I take pride in is that I will always give my honest opinion. It is not meant to "bash" anybody. I have huge respect for the guys and girls who haul ass around the world to give the fans the experience of a lifetime. I will speak against those who I dislike but it is my opinion and we are all entitled to different opinions. I will always try to back my opinions with validations but I am willing to be persuaded. (If anyone can get me to like Alberto Del Rio then I will be shocked! Nothing personal against him I just think he's over rated). I like banter, I get teased all the time about being a Cena fan, lets just keep it civil.

So there we go, that brain ache is out there. I want this blog to be different, to give people like me some where to come and discuss stuff without being trolled for having an opinion that doesn't fit into their "perfect ideal".

As always if there's something I'm not talking about and you think I should be hit the comment button. I'll be back Saturday with my Money in the Bank Predictions.

Tuesday 3 July 2012

Is the format of the WWE Championship match at Money in the Bank a good idea?

Since there is no longer any brand extension the question a lot of people were pondering was how would Money in the Bank work this year? It has been revealed that there are two matches as in previous years, but instead of being branded Raw and Smackdown one is for the WWE Championship and one is for the World Heavyweight Championship.

It was announced by interim GM for last week Vickie Guerrero (this week its Teddy Long) that the WWE championship Money in the Bank match would be made up of former WWE champions only. We already know 4 of the participants - Kane, Chris Jericho, Big Show and John Cena.
The question is, who else?? Why have a ladder match between 4 participants when MitB is usually at least 6 participants.

The only previous champions still on the roster are : The Miz, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio and Triple H. I think we can count Hunter out completely due to his commitments with Brock. Alberto and Sheamus are tied up with each other and unless there is a swerve in their match neither of those are in. Randy's suspension isn't over until end of July, The Miz is still filming so unless they rush him back it is unlikely that he'll be in.

Which bring us to Rey Mysterio. His suspension is over, and it seems only a matter of time before they bring him back. Perfect gateway to get him on tv, although with the current entrants I'm not wholly sure that he would fit in nor am I sure that I particularly want him back.

So the question that brought me to write this is, is the restriction a good idea? I like it, it is a new twist on what could have been a particularly difficult MitB year. My main worry is that if it stays at four participants, no matter how good they are the match will just fall flat. The highlight of MitB is the MAD bumps and mega spots. With four it's just doesn't seem quite right. Maybe it'll all work out and I'll be proven wrong, I want to be! I'm excited to see what Cena can do and since Jericho is the creator he'll be just fine. I'm not worried about Kane either since he's succeeded before. Big Show worries me slightly but maybe he's the one to watch.

So what do you think? How is this all going to pan out? Will it be a triumph or a flat out failure?

No Way Out Predictions

So here are my thoughts and predictions on No Way Out which is on Sky Box Office tomorrow night.

YOUTUBE PRE SHOW Brodus Clay vs. David Otunga
Brodus by pinfall

John Cena vs. Big Show Steel cage match.
If Big Show loses, John Laurinaitis will be fired. If John Cena loses, he will be fired
...
Gah this is such a fucking stupid stipulation. Cena to win by escape

Sheamus (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler for the World Heavyweight Championship
Sheamus by DQ

CM Punk (c) vs. Kane vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship
CM Punk to retain BUT I think AJ will be involved on Daniel Bryan's behalf. Punk pins Kane

Christian (c) vs. Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Championship
Christian by pin fall

Layla (c) vs. Beth Phoenix for the Divas Championship
Layla by pinfall

Santino Marella vs. Ricardo Rodriguez Tuxedo match
Santino

This show has the chance to be amazing. Dolph (as I predicted earlier this week) has the opportunity to show how good he can be. I DON'T see him chasing the main event in to Summerslam, mostly because Alberto will be back. What I DO see happening is Vickie and Swagger getting involved, thus turning Ziggler face and setting up a feud between Dolph and Swagger for the summer. There is Money in the Bank to consider, maybe Dolph will be in the frame for winning? Although if Wade is back there's him to consider.

As for John Cena getting fired....AGAIN?? This stipulation gets thrown around so much. I hate it. I can't see them firing Cena. Even though I pick him to win I don't realistically see them firing Big Johnny either. Gah. I don't know. Will Big Show throw Cena through the cage? Does Vinnie Mac get involved somehow? Last month I would happily have allowed Cena to be off TV for a little while, because as a fan of his and of wrestling I understand that wrestlers burn out. Now I don't want him off TV because there will be NO ONE to watch. OK Punk and Bryan with AJ are great to watch but they alone can not sustain a 3 hour broadcast. The roster has to be strengthend somehow.

Talking of AJ. She is wonderful BUT why isn't she taking part in any Diva's matches? She's going to be a wonderful talent but they need to be using her better as an individual not as a crazy "groupie". Her involvement is likely to be a swerve...I think her and Bryan will be aligned but it ill cost him the win not Punk.

As for the rest... Christian and Cody should build in to something really good if they get given a decent amount of time. Beth and Layla.. I'd almost forgotten the Diva's even existed. We need Kharma.  Santino.....well it'll be funny at least.

So there we have it. No Way out is back and it could be brilliant or it could be the worst ppv this year. What do you think?

Alberto Del Rio out of No Way Out

I hear via twitter that Del Rio is OUT of the World Heavyweight Championship match on Sunday night's No Way Out pay per view.
Reports suggest that Del Rio suffered a concussion during Smackdown last week. His replacement will be announced during tonights 3 hour Raw Supershow.
So just who will it be? In a roster that is already stretched to the limits in my eyes there can only be one of two stars fitting the bill.
1. Cody Rhodes.
Cody is a good choice. But I assume he's going to still be working a programme with Christian for at least this ppv. Maybe it's a little too soon to expect him to jump in to the top match straight away.
2. Dolph Ziggler.
Having had a few matches with Sheamus on tv recently I think Ziggler minus Vickie is a viable option. The matches have been steady and since I don't see Sheamus loding the belt this could be a good replacement and can lead to Ziggler feuding with Swagger (I shall elaborate on this thought later in the week).
I can't see anyone else fitting in, but would love to hear what you think.

Thoughts on Randy Orton

So Randy got busted under the wellness policy. Now all I hear is "WWE should just sack him".

Really?

Maybe his gimmick has got stale. Maybe he isn't worth the price of his contract.

Or maybe Vince and creative completely dropped the ball. Remember when Orton punted the entire Mcmahon family in the head? Remember when Orton had "anger problems" or when he was the youngest World Heavyweight champion? Yeah.

When Legacy broke up it made Randy a face. To me, that was a stupid ass move. Steve Austin was never really a face, fans just cheered for him because they liked what he did. Orton could have done exactly the same.

People slam Orton and say he isn't talented and has no personality. To them I give a huge middle finger. I have enjoyed every incarnation of Randy's character. Maybe I'm the exception to the rule. If Orton wasn't talented he would have been future endevoured a long time ago. He works hard and tries putting people over. Maybe he was a dickhead and a prick to work with, but now he's got his life together and seems happier.

I believe the fault lies at Creatives door. If they can not write continuing storylines then perhaps some future endevours need to be handed out.

Vince, if you're hiring, I need a job.

Smackdown thoughts

So just watched Smackdown and have a few thoughts. They're not particularly indepth.

I really really love Damien Sandow. His character is unique and he really is good on the mic.

There is a lot of slack to be picked up now that Randy Orton is suspended. It feels like thete's a big void that needs filling. This is perfect for Cody Rhodes or Dolph Ziggler to get their s**t together and step up. Which also means Cody getting more than 2 minutes of airtime.

Ryback is a monster. I was unsure what I thought of all the squash matches but it kinda makes sense. He needs to move on to recognisable "jobbers" though.

Sin Cara's back. I reserve judgement until I see him again.

This Big Show thing is annoying me already.

I don't understand why Kane has to be involved in the Punk Bryan feud in the manner he has been. I'd rather see him beat both men up and make their match a double countout at No Way Out leading to another match rather than being a participant.  AJ is another factor and there's just too much going on.

Overall Smackdown was good which is better than can be said for Raw

Tuesday 29 May 2012

Thoughts and ponderings.

So yeah..blogging...sorry.....A million and one things have happened while I have been AWOL....but this post is mostly about
1. Brock Lesnar
2. "People Power"
3. The Brazil incident

So Brock was back and it was ok. Then he lost to Cena, which for the record I think was the right result, then he pussied out again because he couldn't get his own way.
Now I'm aware a it is a "Work" but seriously this contract is more than it's worth, but that's just my opinion. I rarely read the dirtsheets but apparently Lesnar is back in Ufc's bed.
My answer......... once a quitter always a quitter. l could care less if Brock ever came back. I would rather see the money spent on developmental talents.

People power Sucks, which clearly means that Johnny Ace is doing a fine job as a heel. l should point out that I'm a Cena fan so maybe that's why its working for me. l will of course be happy to see it finished sooner rather than later. The whole Big Show turn was too obvious.. I don't think anyone failed to work it out.

Finally......Brazil. What the Actual F**k. I assume readers are familiar with the incident I refer to.
Chris Jericho is the reason I am a wrestling fan. I am well aware that he's coming to London this weekend so would be Off TV for a short while but now he'll miss No Way Out. My initial thought was it is a work, a PR decision to avoid bad press. Now I'm unsure, but I hope that Chris is back where he belongs...

So. yeah. This was waffly. But I feel happy to be blogging and sharing my thoughts with you guys, and to get the frustrations out of my head.

Oh, before I leave, here is a picture of my delivery from the States.

Sunday 29 January 2012

Oops :/

So life kinda got in the way of blogging....not having the internet kinda sucked for a long time. But I'm hoping to make this year a consistant one. So lets kick off with predictions for tonights Royal Rumble!

Card:
30-Man Royal Rumble Match
CM Punk (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Championship with John Laurinaitis as special guest referee
John Cena vs. Kane
Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Mark Henry vs. Big Show in a Steel Cage match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Background:

  • Kane has destroyed Zack Ryder in order to get to Cena and make Cena "embrace the hate"
  • Chris Jericho has returned (Fan Girl moment!! *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE* ) and has only said that "Sunday will be the end of the world as you know it"
  • Daniel Bryan has turned heel and is playing Mark Henry and Big Show against each other - Show knocked over AJ on Smackdown two weeks ago and now claims "to not know his own strength".
  • Laurinaitis has cost CM Punk to lose against Dolph Ziggler over the last 4 weeks and admited to Mick Foley that he will try and screw Punk out of the championship
  • Brodus Clay is the Funkasaurus
Predictions

Rumble - Chris Jericho or Wade Barret to win

CM Punk vs Dolph Ziggler - CM Punk by submission - I figure that its the only way that he can get around Laurinaitis being the ref....unless we see the early return of Triple H (he's due on Raw tomorrow to review the GM position)

John Cena vs. Kane - No contest - Kane will take the beating that Cena gives while preaching at him to "embrace the hate"

Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Mark Henry vs. Big Show in a Steel Cage match for the World Heavyweight Championship - Even though he's been a pussy heel, running away from matches I think Daniel Bryan to retain via escape of some sort - Big Show throwing him through the cage maybe? (a la JBL & Big Show No Way out 2005)

Other points to consider -

I think Sheamus and Miz will have a god run, Miz being dealt the number one spot after losing a match to R Truth last week. Rumor has it that Brodus Clay is getting his full entrance, so I get the feeling he'll be eliminated pretty soon after. As its the 25th anniversary I wouldn't be surprised to see some legend entrants, specifically Hacksaw Jim Duggan who won the first ever rumble. But who knows??

Hope y'all enjoy the rumble and I'll be back here with my review and reaction later in the week.

Something to say? Disagree with my prediction? Hit that comment button and let me know!
