I had the best birthday ever because I got to spend it at the Raw house show. You can read all about it after the jump.
The show was opened by Justin Roberts before an opening tag match between Brodus Clay and Santino vs Primo and Epico. Wonderfully funny match with Santino doing his best slapstick routines. Brodus and Santino picked up the win and had a few kids from the audience in the ring to dance.
Vickie comes out to a massive chorus of boos! She asks the WWE Universe to tweet to vote whether AJ would be allowed to compete in a triple threat Divas Championship match and the result would be announced later.
The next match is between Tensai and Michael Mcgillicutty. The "older" members of the audience chant "Albert" which gets a smike from the big man. Mcgillicutty sneaks the win with roll up.
On the big screens we get a promo from Dolph Ziggler about his match later with John Cena. Dolph's face alone gets a massive boo!
Justin comes back to announce Divas match. Eve comes out to a big boo, Layla to a decent cheer and then Justin announces AJ is in the match!! The crowd goes mad, me included! This was a good match with Layla and AJ working together the Layla sneaks a roll up on AJ for a 2 count. Then it's every woman for herself! AJ stops the ref counting a pin by Layla. Eve throws Layla out of the ring and AJ sneaks a roll up pin!! NEW DIVAS CHAMPION!!
Until Vickie screeches that the match must restart. Eve takes advantage and hits her finisher for the 3 count and runs away with her title.
The big screens come to life again and Team Hell No appear. The whole arena chants YES! YES! YES! and a highly amusing video package ensues.
The next match is Dolph vs Cena. Dolph had a mixed reaction, a nice compliment to a guy who really is stealing the show. Cena's apperance drew equal anounts of cheers and boos - his shirt got thrown back to him! This match was excellent. The crowd was really involved. Cena pulled out a hurricarana(!!), the ref sent Vickie back to the locker room before he got bumped and she returned to attack Cena, which brought back AJ and the funniest moment of the night. Words can't explain so I hope these photos do!!
Lots of fun and a Cena win which led to the break. Sadly Cena didn't come around the crowd after the match.
During the interval some idiots invaded the ring and got themselves thrown out.
Antonio Cesaro defeated Zack Ryder in the quietest match of the night. Not much to say really, just not many people interested in the match.
Rhodes Scholars come out next to face Team Hell No. Plenty of boos for Cody and Damien. Daniel Bryan out first to another chorus of Yes!Yes!Yes! and he had his usual break down. Kane enters next. Maybe its just me but he really doesn't seem that tall...but he IS terrifying! This match was absolutely brilliant. Team Hell No got the win and did the "I'm the Tag Team champions" routine. Final match of the night was CM Punk vs Ryback. This led to my personal highlight - seeing Paul Heyman.
Punk is amazing on the mic. As my boyfriend pointed out he is so much like Stone Cold - even when he's bad people cheer!
Ryback is super over with the crowd! Feed Me More is possibly the loudest chant of the night. The match is good, with comedy elements from Heyman. Sadly the finish ends in a DQ after Rhodes Scholars, Primo and Epico and Tensai attack Ryback. Kane and Cena come to save the day and chased them away leading to Punk to be Shellshocked! Ryback gets the final cheer of the night.
All in all a great night out, well worth the ticket prices in my opinion, and I got my face on wwe.com!
