Results Round Up - Payback's a hit

Hey Guys, here's the round up of Payback's results.

Sheamus defeated Damien Sandow - A solid match, perhaps should have appeared on the main show. I think by having these two on the pre show is to build watch figures. The best thing about the pre show is the panel; hosted by Josh Matthews The Big Show, Cody Rhodes and R-Truth gave their insight into specific matches. A thoroughly enjoyable addition to the show in general.

Curtis Axel (with Paul Heyman) defeated Wade Barrett and The Miz to become the WWE Intercontinental Champion. - Such a clever finish here that I can't remember ever seeing before (please leave a comment if you know of a match where it happened!) Miz had Barrett in the the figure four but Axel dived into the ring and covered him securing the win. Genuine emotion from the young man who is probably destined for big things now he's working with Heyman.

AJ Lee (with Big E Langston) defeated Kaitlyn to become the WWE Divas Championship - Ahhh yay! I've wanted this result for so long! The match was good, with some solid work from both ladies. I can only hope that this means a step in the right direction for the division.

Dean Ambrose (c) defeated Kane by countout - Ambrose retains his title in a solid match. I was a little surprised that it ended in a countout, but I imagine that it is to stop either man looking weak.

Alberto Del Rio defeated Dolph Ziggler to win the World Heavyweight Championship - this has shocker written ALL over it! I was genuinely surprised by this match. I watched the show with my Bf and he was super pissed off at the finish. However there was good match psychology and it's clearly the ending is setting up a double turn with Del Rio turning heel and Ziggler becoming face. I'm unsure how that sits with AJ and Big E since they still seem to be heels?

CM Punk (with Paul Heyman) defeated Chris Jericho - So Punk turned up. While the match was nothing less than we have come to expect from these two masters I do wish that more had come out of Punk and Heyman's relationship here, but I'll talk more about that when we get to our Raw thoughts in the next post.

The Shield (Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins) defeated Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton - the result was never in doubt, a solid match with clever plays on Daniel Bryan's 'weakest link' train of thought. No RKO to Bryan here so Orton's weird doing nothing kinda phase is still ongoing.

John Cena defeated Ryback - While I expected Cena to retain I wasn't expecting the way this match worked. Ryback captured the first fall, with Cena securing his win by first planting Ryback through a table and then through the ambulance roof. The best part of this match was when Cena took to the top rope during the lumberjack match and dived onto Ryback and the lumberjacks!

Over all Payback was a solid show, while some matches had predictable outcomes not one was uninteresting. It was definitely worth the £15 it cost us to watch on Box Office.
